Our Story

A Staten Island tradition since 1921

Basilio Inn, the oldest restaurant on Staten Island, was established in 1921 and is located in a historic carriage house built circa 1850. Its founder, Basilio Giovannini, was a cooper from the Piedmont region of Italy.

For generations, Basilio Inn was a gathering place for Italian immigrants from across New York — a place to play bocce, make and share wine, dance, and celebrate traditions.

In its long history, the restaurant has preserved the charm of a countryside European dining experience, complete with its own vegetable garden, grape arbor, and bocce courts.

Today, Basilio Inn offers a full-service bar and dining rooms that can host parties of up to 100 guests, with all facilities handicap accessible.
